Training for sleepless nights

Ahh... finally back in the comforts of my own home.

Somehow by some miracle I have not slept since yesterday. Got to turn in earlier today for NUS open house coming up. Probably it was because I was out the whole day and night, and day again to either meet up with people or go to some places where I've been put off by the frequently punctual-by-the-day rain. It was by this premise that I got myself out of the house especially early for to Changi, such omnious weather. Initially it was just sending aj choir bon voyage and wishing them all the best for their Riva competition. Then realised even so, I was still more than an hour early. So what was there to do? Took that opportunity to explore the latest Terminal 3!

It's big, spacious - and when I was there, nearly empty. Some amateur dancers even made some use of the exceedingly wide floor space to practice their break moves, with always someone keeping watch for the occasional security police. The food there is also unreasonably expensive... nevertheless, their variety and size of the food court also quite surprised me, which is about half of an entire basement floor. Also, there is also popeye's and even NTUC Fairprice just beside the food court. However, I would feel sorry for the neighbouring shops that doesn;t bode well with the market; Singaporeans apparently prefer their common food court than other sophisticated products like perfume (or even vampy lingerie at one of the shops above the departure hall).

Then sat on the skytrain to T1 (after meeting some people and getting myself updated a little), where most of the choir was taking the flight. Camped out at Changi to send off some choir peeps that were on a different flight - so no sleep for me - before taking the early bus service 53 back home.

I just then had the calling to swing the badminton racket around. So I did just that at the Bishan sports stadium. Okay, that might be a little random, but seriously I didn't want to sleep just yet. After the short shower, it was another impromptu outing with 2359 for the movie "Step Up 2". Was real cool and I so totally wanted to relive the old dance days, short lunch, and the next few hours heading down to Tanjong Pagar to find a obscure building that was hidden behind the URA buliding. So while I was crapping about poor street signs...

I inevidently stumbled into the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) building to view their latest exhibition: SINGAPORE 1.1. Being a fond geographer that is familiar with the place, I strolled in to reignite the passion for the work there (It didn't hurt that the place was mostly GREEN and air-conditioned). There they had a new model of scale on what Singapore's town would look like by 2015. Also, they featured a few designer architecture around the island. Even Bishan's Library and Park Two have their own standalone displays. I think it will be around till 25th March if anyone's interested.

Yups, got to end this now before I compliment the mostly wonderful, sunny weather. God even left me a beautiful message as I was walking home! :)

And I wasn't the only one amazed. Synchonized camera phone snapping all the way from the road junction!

Thank you Lord, for these beautiful things to be shown to all. Kinda takes the resentment away from the fact that I can't fly away from this place today. Amen.

Thinking things Through

Why does it always rain on a monday night?
Such that I cannot seem to get down and fight.
Longing to fit up with my favorite activity,
grinding my basketball down court.

So I'm still sitting on my chair,
Thinking Life's unfair.
(That seems to be almost every time)
Typing on the computer like clockwork,
Making this poem look like work.
While I still look out of the window and pray
for the ceaseless rain to fall back to grave.

Rain, rain go away.
Come again another day.
Make me a wonderful fountain
On the shores of home, perhaps,
while the flora Rejoice

and

Make Music for me while you patter your way.

Beta test Window's Live Writer

Downloaded the recent update of the Window's Live Messenger just now and the installer mentioned this application as well. It's a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) kind of blog writer, and I'm still getting used to the format for now.

Aside from that, there's the photo gallery and Window's Live Mail that look way lot better than those common plugins you usually get in the default Windows XP interface. And my photos are more readily accessible. It's surprising to note that the window form of the programs are so Vista look-a-likes, somewhat a friendly spin on the Windows XP doggers like me are still on.

At the end of the weekdays the A's will finally come back to haunt everyone... This year the release seems to be quite late as compared to the previous trends, which seems to me that MOE really has put in a lot of effort to analyze this years' results. Just as well, since my batchees are the pioneer guinea pig batch for the entirely reformed syllabus. Now, I wonder if they included some upscale moderations?

I can wish for that, can't I?
